Custom flags in Singapore come in four shapes and four height bands: teardrop flags from 2.5 m to 5.6 m, feather flags from 2.5 m to 5.5 m, beach flags from 2.8 m to 4.5 m, and hand-held flags at 30 x 45 cm. All are printed on polyester, with hand-held flags also available in nylon, and prices start from SGD 20. Choose the height from the viewing distance and the venue’s ceiling or wind exposure, and the shape from how much text the flag has to carry.

What sizes do custom flags come in?
Flags are specified by total height from the ground to the tip of the pole, not by the fabric alone, because the pole and base are part of the product. Within each shape, heights step up in roughly one-metre bands. The table gives the range we print for each shape and the fabric it is printed on.
| Flag type | Height range | Material | Shape and reading | Best used for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Teardrop flag | 2.5 m to 5.6 m | Polyester | Curved, fabric held taut on the pole so the print stays flat in low wind | Outdoor events, roadshows, shopfront promotions |
| Feather flag | 2.5 m to 5.5 m | Polyester | Tall and narrow, the free edge ripples; the largest print area per height | Trade shows, exhibition halls, entrance lines |
| Beach flag | 2.8 m to 4.5 m | Polyester | Compact feather variant, lighter pole, quick to carry and set up | Summer sales, community events, sports days |
| Hand-held flag | 30 x 45 cm | Polyester or nylon | Rectangular fabric on a short stick, waved not planted | Cheering, parades, National Day, team events |

Which flag height should I choose?
Match the height to where the flag will be seen. At 2.5 m to 2.8 m a flag reads from across a shop frontage or a stall and fits under most indoor ceilings, which makes it the exhibition and mall size. At 3.5 m to 4.5 m it reads across a car park, a roadshow site or a sports field and is the usual outdoor promotion size. At 5.5 m to 5.6 m it reads across a road or an open field and is used to mark an entrance or a venue from a distance; check wind exposure before choosing it, because the tallest flags carry the most load in gusts. Indoors, measure the ceiling first and allow for the base.
| Total height | Where it reads from | Venue |
|---|---|---|
| 2.5 m to 2.8 m | Across a shopfront, a booth or a stall | Indoor exhibitions, malls, shop entrances |
| 3.5 m to 4.5 m | Across a car park or a field | Outdoor roadshows, condo lawns, sports days |
| 5.5 m to 5.6 m | Across a road or an open site | Venue entrances, large outdoor events, sheltered from strong wind |
Teardrop or feather: which shape holds more text?
Feather. A feather flag is a tall rectangle with one curved edge, so for the same height it has the largest printable area and takes a logo plus a line of text read top to bottom. A teardrop flag tapers to a point at the bottom, so it holds less text but the fabric is pulled tight along the pole and stays flat and legible in light wind, which is why it suits outdoor promotions where the message is a logo and two or three words. Beach flags follow the feather outline at a smaller scale. For any shape, text runs vertically, so keep the message short and the type large.
What is a hand-held flag?
A 30 x 45 cm rectangle of polyester or nylon on a short stick, printed with a logo, team colours or an event design and waved rather than planted. Nylon is lighter and flutters more easily; polyester holds colour better and suits full-colour print. Hand-held flags are ordered in quantity for parades, National Day events, school sports days and brand activations where the crowd carries the message.
Can a flag be printed on both sides?
Yes. Single-sided flags show the design mirrored on the reverse, which is acceptable for logos and symmetrical artwork but reverses any text. Double-sided flags use two printed layers with a block-out between them so the design reads correctly from both sides; they weigh more and cost more, and they suit flags placed where people approach from both directions, such as a path or a road.
What bases and poles are used?
Outdoors on grass or soft ground, a ground spike screws into the earth. On concrete, tarmac or indoors, a cross base or a plate base holds the pole, and a water bag or sand bag over the cross base adds weight against wind. The pole is sectional fibreglass or aluminium so the flag packs into a carry bag. Choose the base before the height: a 5.5 m flag on a bare cross base in an open car park will not stay upright.
How much do custom flags cost?
From SGD 20. Size, material, quantity and printing method set the price, and a quotation is prepared from the design and requirements you send. Taller flags, double-sided printing and larger quantities each move the figure, so send the venue and the quantity with the artwork to get an accurate number first time.

Frequently asked questions about flag sizes
What is the standard size of a teardrop flag?
Teardrop flags run from 2.5 m to 5.6 m in total height, including the pole. 2.5 m suits indoor and shopfront use, 3.5 m to 4.5 m suits most outdoor promotions, and 5.6 m marks a venue from a distance.
What is the difference between a feather flag and a teardrop flag?
A feather flag is tall and narrow with a rippling free edge and holds the most text for its height. A teardrop flag tapers to a point, holds less text, and stays flat and legible in light wind because the fabric is held taut on the pole.
What size is a hand-held flag?
30 x 45 cm on a short stick, in polyester or nylon.
Can I use a 5.5 m flag indoors?
Only in a hall with a ceiling well above 5.5 m plus the base. Most indoor venues take the 2.5 m to 2.8 m sizes.
